For Siegrid

By paulalpeterson

Watercolor, gold ink, gold foil hearts and rose petals on paper.

This piece was started some weeks ago for my friend Siegrid Smith who just celebrated her 5th year cancer-free.  She is an amazing woman and a friend of nearly 40 years.  For someone so special on such an auspicious occasion, the final result should be extra special so, it is difficult to finish.

These collage paintings are all about 9 X 12 and don’t hold much within their borders so the reams of poetry, bible verses and love that I want to express won’t fit.  It won’t matter to Siegrid.  She knows how I feel and how important she has been to me, my late husband and my family.

Happy 5th anniversary, Siegrid!

Hi Paula… remember me? Gayle Green from So. County so many years ago? For some reason I thought of you today and googled your name which led me to your website. Your work in incredible!! I especially love the recent collage work. Anyway, I couldn’t leave without saying hello ~ I still keep in touch with Michael Passarello. I live in VA, have a fabulous husband, teach kids with intellectual disabilities/Autism, and also work weekends/summers on my son’s farm. Life is good! Hope all is well with you and your family is happy and healthy. Take care my friend! Gayle

Whoa, Gayle! What a blast from the past! Thanks for your post! Guess my tags are working if you could find my page that easily, which is good. Glad to hear all is well with you, say ‘hi’ to Michael P. when next you are in contact. I have been retired from the county for a few years now due to disability and, yes, life is very good! I just purchased a home as a first time home buyer and am painting up a storm. Blessings to you and your family. Thanks for stopping by.
